West Ham’s Diouf hoping to make history in CAF final

West Ham’s El Hadji Malick Diouf could make history when Senegal face Morocco in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday evening.

The left-back would become just the second West Ham United player to win the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competition should Senegal defeat the host nation in Rabat.

Should Senegal triumph at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Diouf would emulate the achievement of the late Hammers midfielder Marc-Vivien Foé, who lifted the trophy with Cameroon in 2000.

The 21-year-old has been in great form for his country at the Cup of Nations, helping them defeat Benin, Sudan, Mali and Egypt to reach the final. Senegal have not conceded a single goal in the 307 minutes Diouf has been on the pitch.

The CAF final will take place on Sunday 19:00.
