RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande once revealed how his agent priced him out of a move to Rangers following a successful trial at Ibrox.
But the pacy wide man - who is said to be the subject of a mega £87million bid from Manchester United - has revealed it has always been his dream to turn out for the Red Devils' bitter north-west rivals Liverpool. Back in 2023, the then 18-year-old Diomande arrived in Glasgow on trial from American fourth tier outfit, AS Frenzi and even played a game for Gers' B team in a friendly clash against Monaco.
However, the player was not offered a contract by the Light Blues, and later claimed that his representative was responsible for an offer not being put on the table. He said: "I was scouted at an international tournament. To prepare for a professional career in Europe, I transferred to an academy in Florida. Two years later, I was on trial at Glasgow Rangers. It's not true that I didn't want to sign for them - my agent at the time demanded too much money.
After a six month stint with Spanish second tier club Leganes, Diomande hit the jackpot when he landed a £20milllion move to Leipzig last summer after the Bundesliga side activated his release clause.
The 19-year-old has been in fine form for Die Roten Bullen, registering six goals and three assists in 16 league matches. Those displays have also helped Diomande establish himself at international level, and the teenager is currently on duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scoring in Ivory Coast's 3-0 win over Burkina Faso in a last 16 clash earlier this week.
He reportedly already has a number of suitors across Europe, with Man United reportedly the leading contenders to secure his signature in a massive January move. But during an Instagram live video, Diomande has shared his burning ambition to walk out of the famous tunnel at Anfield.
He said: "I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I'm a big Liverpool fan. My father's dream is to see me play for Liverpool."
