Tottenham ‘PSR trouble’ on the cards as Premier League get set for major announcement

Tottenham are set to find out on Wednesday whether they’ve breached the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations.

Clubs in the English top flight had to submit audited versions of their accounts to the Premier League by 31 December and are expected to find out whether they’ve breached the limit of £105million losses over three seasons on 14 January.

Conor Gallagher is on his way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the North London club expected to pay Atletico Madrid £34m for his services.

Spurs are also eyeing an ambitious move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with any potential deal going over £40m.

The Lilywhites have posted consecutive losses in their last two accounts and could theoretically be in trouble soon.

Tottenham compliant with PSR rules in three-year first

All 20 Premier League clubs are expected to be compliant with PSR for the first time in three seasons, according to The i Paper.

Speaking to the news outlet on 13 January, Professor Rob Wilson, a football finance expert and programme director at the University Campus of Football Business, said, “No one will be having sleepless nights this year.”

It’s been claimed that the fear of future breaches and UEFA’s stricter financial rules mean little business should be expected in the winter transfer window.

Nottingham Forest and Everton’s recent punishment has had a “huge impact” on how English top-flight clubs are choosing to spend their money.

Thomas Frank is expected to be backed by Spurs, though, and it doesn’t look like the hierarchy in N17 are concerned about any financial difficulties, given their January plans.

Thomas Frank sack decision clear after latest development

Fabio Paratici never wanted Frank at Tottenham, and his judgment is proving to be right after what’s happened this season.

Many fans have lost faith in the former Brentford boss after losing 2-1 to Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on 10 January.

Despite frustration reaching a boiling point among supporters in N17, the North London outfit’s hierarchy are arguably putting their weight behind the Danish manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With Spurs intent on signing Gallagher and Diomande in the coming weeks, it looks like the Lewis family are ready to back him in January.
